SFDA participates among many government sectors to serve pilgrims in Hajj season, in compliance with government direction, which is always care about providing the best services to custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and serve people with all potentials and human and  technical capacities.
The role of SFDA is to monitor incoming consignments with pilgrimage mission through King AbdulAziz International Airport in Jeddah, Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, Jeddah Islamic Port and Haditha border, the Ammar border, Batha border, Judaidah port at Arar and Wadiah border.
Additionally, SFDA monitor food establishments in Makkah and Madinah, in cooperation with Ministry of Municipal & Rural Affairs. SFDA in coordination with Islamic Development Bank carries out health inspection to sacrificial slaughter at slaughterhouses located in Mina, inspects the food services at Makkah and Madinah hotels and food transportation methods entering Makkah.
SFDA launches awareness workshops for who are responsible to provide food services for pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah, in addition to raise pilgrimage awareness on the safety of food, drug and medical devices.
SFDA employees work on provide awareness messages on safe handling of food, effectiveness of drug and safety and efficiency of medical devices and safe handling techniques which published in Arabic, English, French, Urdu, Indian, Bengali, Malay, Bahasa (Indonesian) and Turkish at King AbdulAziz International Airport in Jeddah, Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah and Haramain Express Train.
